EV3 Commander App

Robot Commander is the official command app from LEGO® MINDSTORMS®. FREE to download on most smart devices; Robot Commander connects via Bluetooth to the EV3 Intelligent Brick. This easy to use app allows you to interact with your very own EV3 robots without even connecting to a computer! That means you can play instantly with your own robots!

It is designed to be used with the five EV3 home kit robot designs (EV3RSTORM, R3PTAR, TRACK3R, SPIK3R, GRIPP3R); however, it can be used to pilot our Education Core Set robots using the Create & Command Your Own Robot widget within the app.

EV3 Programming App vs Programmer App

EV3 Programming App (For use with Lego Education EV3 Core Set #45544)

EV3 Programming is the official programming app from LEGO® Education. Using an intuitive icon-based environment, the EV3 Programming app is a simple and effective way of getting started with LEGO MINDSTORMS® Education EV3 (45544) Kit. Combining the physical EV3 robot and this programming app provides all the tools necessary to engage and motivate your students inside and outside the classroom.

A wide range of support material is included with the EV3 Programming app to ensure you and your students enjoy a seamless introduction. Six step-by-step Robot Educator tutorials provide an effective guide to programming and hardware. An Introduction to Robotics lesson plan gives teachers an outline for nine separate start-up lessons, linking newly learned material to local curriculum standards and suggesting possible assessment areas.

The EV3 Programming app is an addition to the LEGO MINDSTORMS Education EV3 learning concept that supports teachers with an intuitive technology platform and manageable, curriculum-relevant lessons. The EV3 app gives you real-life robotic technology in a simple, mobile and relevant solution for the digital classroom. It is designed to streamline students’ access to and engagement in MINDSTORMS EV3 and a wide range of subjects including computer science, science, technology, engineering and mathematics.

EV3 Programmer App (For use with Lego Mindstorms EV3 Home Set #31313)

This is the official LEGO MINDSTORMS EV3 Programmer app for use with the LEGO MINDSTORMS EV3 (31313) robotics construction set (Home Kit). Use this app to build and program your EV3 robots in the fastest, smartest and most fun way possible – directly from your tablet without the need for any wires or additional software.

EV3 Programmer features missions, pre-built programs and building instructions for the five different EV3 robots found in the home kit: EV3RSTORM, TRACK3R, SPIK3R, GRIPP3R and R3PTAR.

EV3Lessons.com

Check out EV3Lessons.com founded by Sanjay and Arvind Seshan from First Lego League (FLL) Team Not the Droids You Are Looking For in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA in 2014. They have created and curated tutorials and resources on their site for students in classrooms learning robotics, robotics clubs, scouts, and robotics teams.

"[Our] primary mission is to provide all robotics students with a good starting point for coding well. If you start right, you can learn more and do more. We think learning-by-doing is important and so we have included challenges at the end of each lesson. We also provide a complete set of lessons, from Beginner through Advanced, in a format that is concise and easy-to-use.

A second mission is related to our tag line "Let"s Learn Together". Our goal is to create an environment where EV3 users (FLL teams or individuals) can share their designs, code and ideas. As a result, EV3Lessons has a growing list of international collaborators from the Netherlands, Brazil, Canada, Mexico and the United States. For First Lego League teams, this is a website where the idea of Gracious Professionalism and Coopertition can be put into practice every day. Anyone who would like to make a contribution to the site is welcome.

If you are an FLL team, your season will be successful because of the work you put into it. We do not provide solutions to any First Lego League missions. We want students to take the lessons on this site, learn from them, adapt them, add to them, and then solve your challenges by combining concepts and ideas."

It is okay to:
  • Learn how to code
  • Cite the person or team that showed you the technique
  • Learn a new technique from someone else
  • Learn something and make it even better
